Facebook post and cover sizes
Facebook shows two image shapes most people need. A shared post or link preview looks best at 1200 by 630 pixels, roughly a 1.9:1 ratio, which is the size Facebook uses for the large preview card. A cover photo displays at 851 by 315 pixels on desktop.
Pick the size in the preset, then use cover to fill the frame and crop the overflow so there are no empty bars, or fit to keep the whole image. Cover photos in particular get cropped differently between desktop and mobile, so keep anything important, like text or a face, near the center.
Save as JPG for a photo. To frame it tighter first, crop the image, then apply the preset. The full set of platform sizes is in the size guide.
